USMC IN THE PACIFIC

Burdette, Snyder: PFC

Burdette, Snyder: PFC was from Globe, Arizona and a full blooded American Indian, Navajo I believe. He was a surly apparently unhappy guy with a hint of trouble in his past. He didn't take orders well, at least from me when he was in my work parties. The night he was killed I found him hiding in the life jacket locker while getting a life jacket for a dying Pvt. Samuelson. I chased him out telling him  that the thin metal of the locker wasn't any protection anyway. He was killed a few minutes later by a Jap destroyer's fire according to my log. Fear and panic causes people to act in strange ways and I do not intend to imply that he was a coward.
