STORIES OF THE MEN

Klatt, George Staat, Plt. Sgt

Klatt, George Staat, Plt. Sgt was originally from Illinois according to my log, he was Gun Capt. of Mount #2 1.1 AA gun platform during general quarters located on the port side, same deck as my GQ station on mount one starboard side. He had been in the Corps for 16 years and was very bitter at his family, when dying from wounds Egan asked hom for his sister's address so he could write her, Klatt said "F--k her she didn't care when I was alive so in death F--k her!!" You might confirm this with Egan but I believe he was and Old China Marine, most Marines who had duty their developed a psycho type of condition that was known as being 'Asiatic'  I am not talking about the part of the Corps that went into China at the close of WWII but the "Panay" era and earlier duty periods. They were definitely a different breed of cat!!
